Cherokee Cablevision has deployed Teleste Luminato X32 edge QAM systems for television distribution in multi-dwelling units. The North Carolina operator is expanding fibre in its access network while continuing to support existing coaxial television infrastructure inside buildings.
At each property, X32 converts incoming IP video streams into QAM channels for the local coax network. Remote configuration and monitoring let the operator supervise building-level systems centrally. The compact fanless unit can be installed on a wall or in a rack without routine fan maintenance.
The arrangement illustrates a practical transition boundary. Fibre and IP can carry services to a property without forcing an immediate application-based service or a new receiver on every screen. Broadcast television remains available alongside broadband while the operator modernizes the upstream network.
The case study confirms deployment and signal conversion but does not disclose channel density per site, encryption, return-path management, redundancy, monitoring alarms, power protection or measured operating cost. Teleste and the operator are the sources, and no independent performance audit is provided.
