Blackmagic Design has released version 3.5 of Blackmagic Camera for Android. The update adds settings search so operators can find controls without navigating each menu, along with shortcuts that open the application with a chosen preset already loaded.

Supported phones and tablets can now receive 10-bit remote previews. That change is relevant when a remote operator needs a less banded monitoring image for exposure and colour judgement, although a preview remains distinct from the quality and calibration of the recorded master.

Version 3.5 also includes Android 17 optimisation and reduced battery usage. Together, the changes target practical field friction: configuration speed, repeatable setup, remote visibility and runtime rather than adding another recording format.

Blackmagic has not published a complete device list in the announcement, preview bitrate, chroma sampling, colour-management behaviour or measured battery improvement. Productions should test the exact handset, network and remote-monitor combination before depending on the update during a live job.
