BirdDog has introduced O4, an outdoor PTZ camera designed for permanent and exposed production positions. The camera combines 4K60 imaging with a 40x optical zoom, giving venues and sports productions a long-range framing option without placing an operator beside the camera.
An IP66-rated enclosure protects the system against dust and rain. Native NDI carries video, audio, tally, control and related production data over the network, allowing O4 to join BirdDog’s wider control and software environment rather than requiring a separate SDI control path for each function.
The design is relevant to stadiums, outdoor venues, traffic positions and houses of worship where installing a conventional camera in a third-party weather housing adds bulk, servicing complexity and integration points. Long zoom also lets one fixed mounting location cover a larger field of action.
The published overview confirms resolution, zoom, weather rating and NDI support, but does not state sensor size, low-light performance, latency, codec modes, power options, operating temperature or cybersecurity controls. The Best of Show award is recognition, not an independent durability or image-quality test.
