Avid's September 2026 Content Core release adds an event-driven rules engine that can start actions when media conditions change. One example is notifying users when a proxy becomes available, while a simulator lets administrators test rule behaviour before applying it to live assets.
The release adds a Jobs view for auditing automated work, batch thumbnail generation and a unified taxonomy service shared by Search and Metadata. Search now recognises underscores in filenames, and a Media Status panel exposes asset readiness more directly.
Other changes include My Day workflow tools, a PDF viewer and the ability to duplicate a web editor project. Together, these features reduce the need for journalists and media managers to open several applications simply to understand whether an asset can be used.
A preview link to MediaCentral Asset Management requires MediaCentral 2026.4.3 plus a hotfix and carries documented limitations. Organisations should treat that element as a controlled preview and validate rules, permissions and taxonomy changes against copies of production workflows before wider deployment.
