ARD Hauptstadtstudio Berlin has selected EVS MediaCeption, built around the VIA Media Asset Platform, to modernise the production environment used for reporting on German federal politics. The project follows the approaching end of life of the studio’s hardware-based television production system.

VIA MAP is intended to provide a converged asset and workflow layer for ingest, media management, editing, playout and publishing. EVS describes the platform as deployable on premises, in hybrid form or in cloud infrastructure, allowing the newsroom to change compute placement without replacing the editorial model.

Cross-media production is central to the design because Hauptstadtstudio must serve linear television alongside web and social destinations. A shared platform can keep media and metadata connected while teams create several outputs from the same reporting and archive material.

The agreement confirms product selection but does not disclose the implementation timetable, storage scale, newsroom integrations, migration method, redundancy, user count or contract value. The operational result will depend on how the software-defined platform is connected to existing editorial, graphics and transmission systems.
