Agence France-Presse and Dalet are developing a proof of concept for applying C2PA Content Credentials to news video during encoding and distribution. The partners want a verifiable record of origin and edit history to travel with footage from the agency into broadcaster workflows.

AFP brings earlier field experience from a 2024 US election proof of concept in its photo operation. Dalet contributes the newsroom and media-workflow layer where assets are ingested, edited, governed and delivered. Their joint work is intended to place provenance inside those daily operations rather than making it a separate verification task.

The functional video proof of concept is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2027. It will also examine legal and commercial questions around running C2PA at agency scale. AFP’s stated position goes beyond marking only synthetic media: it argues that both AI-generated and conventional field journalism benefit from verifiable provenance.

No finished implementation exists yet. The partners have not published supported codecs, transcode behaviour, signing-key controls, customer verification interfaces or performance impact. Success will depend on credentials surviving ordinary news edits and delivery transformations without implying that signed content is automatically true.
